Aqua-Soft ForumsHaving hit 2:30am and still receiving doses of unsolicited spam from BOFH via MSN Messenger, I found myself pondering what the heck this iTunes crap was doing with the 'bass.dll' module. Surely a company with enough money to build a bridge to the moon could whip up some quick n' dirty sound code and/or at least embed the damn thing with the EXE (note - which is where our little adventure begins). Whipping out the drawer of disassembly tools, and quickly disassembling (or trying thereof) ".aspack" stuck out like a stick in the mud. Apple would drop dead before usin' ASPack, I thought to myself. (It was a flavour of ASPack v2.x if you care to know) Cutting to the chase, it was then unpacked to ~1.43mb (verified to run thereafter), then disassembled/analyzed. The results tickled me. I was greeted by countless default-named labels, controls, panels, images, icons, buttons, typical Delphi theming, and other assorted Borland Delphi junk (you know, those ugly little icons that Borland just adores)Having hit 2:57am now, with me about to write a full report on how fake iTunes was, a little 'ahem-note', I call it, was posted under comments attached to the article. Filtering thru the comment, I found this quite lovely site: (http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?showtopic=3095) clearly proving the app isn't an iTunes leak, but rather just some little project taken on by the soon-to-be-extinct Apple/Macintosh community.
It's 3:03am, and I end my log here, concluding that the 'iTunes leak' never happened. I suggest you just slip the ZIP, EXE, TXT, and whatever other files it came with, back into its self-addressed, prepaid envelope and mail it ASAP back to its developer. I do make a note, however, that the application is quite nice, for being written from scratch. It's almost flawless Aqua theme/buttons and smooth shadowing menus fooled me. This article isn't very good new for Aqua-Soft or iPlay, even though it does say some good things about them, it may bring some very unwanted attention to the aqua skinning community. :staffs here:
