Needing some advice on what program(s) to use

Hi,

I've been searching for a long long time now for a simple way to enhance my desktop, makin' it pretty and functional.

This is what i want to be able to do:

- i'd like to have an auto-hiding dock with just some (5 or 6) applications i always use. I'm using objectdock but don't really know if this is the best. I do like being able to create those "flyout" menus they look really cool. I just want to know if there's anything best (meaning less memory consuming and efficient).

- the biggest problem: i want a tabbed dock with different categories to organize my shortcuts , and it must be able to do drag and drop so that i can easily add or remove shortcuts. i'm also using objectdock for that but i'd rather have that tabbed thing in the desktop and i can't do that with objectdock

- finally, i wanted to change my desktop itself: add large buttons, like my computer or my drives (with %used thingys, for ex), stats of the pc and other features like weather or translation docklets or smthg. I also want all those things to REALLY be on the desktop, so that when i use "show desktop" i can minimize all windows and see those stats and buttons. a program that does this very well is avedesk, which is the one i'm using right now. the problem is that i can't find a good variety of docklets, windowlets and modules for it like i can for y'z dock or objectdock for example.

it's a long text now, i hope i made myself clear as to what i want. it's really bugging me because i need this to be on its best behaviour possible, simple and easy to use.

is there any advice you can give me?

tnk u

Please search since this was asked a million times.

In short, RkLauncher is the best dock (IMO), OD+ is the only tabbed dock available and AveDesk is the answer for your 3rd question.
