Performance Issues?

I've been tempted by Flykite OSX for about 3 days now. its sitting on my desktop and on a CD which i got from a magazine. I do have 1 question whichi couldnt find anywhere.

I'm a gamer. I play games alot. EQ2, CS source, HL2 etc and plan on playing games in future. Does Flykite OS X cause any performance problems? Does it hog CPU resources enough so that I wouldnt be able to enjoy my games to the extent i do (i usually run games in 1280x1024 with high GFX)

if it didnt hinder any performance, id go ahead and install.

i didnt get the idea. It's i used to use widgets on my desktop along with stylexp. some themes/widgets seemed to hog alot of CPU resources.

If it doesnt then im gonna go ahead and install it

Flyakite does not affect performance of your system. Because it's not a "Program" itself that runs in background. Flyakite OSX replaces the system files with OSX-ish Bitmaps and icons. The difference in performance will come depending on 3rd party software that you will install along with Flyakite, such as WindowBlinds, Yz' Shadow or Dock program.. although the cost in performance will depends on these program and your system configuration.

All in all, I can say that you can install Flyakite without worrying about performance hit.

Hi Guys,

Yes, works perfect !

Only thing are indeed the third party stuff

When I start up it takes allot of time to load them all.

I also messed with the finder bar on top yesterday, so I did a system restore.

Now, I was so shocked by winXP style, I wanted back the OSX style :-D

When I'm installing, what do i need to uncheck to not have performance issues?

Or what do I need to install basicly to have a nice fast OS X system?

Glad to hear, one more member to jump on the Flyakite bandwagon and appreciate Mr. Flyakite's work

Understand this though: The system replacements won't cause performance issues, but the programs that come bundled with Flyakite such as Yz shadow, Winroll etc. may minimally hinder your Pc's performance. If your computer can't handle it, I suggest to just uncheck Yz Shadow, Winroll, and anything else that is extra
