(WIP) VistaMac

I am not a theme builder.

i have given great ideas to those who do though, but that was always on their current theme

now for once...i have my own full idea

A whole new Theme

VistaMac

A theme that isnt fully Vista but isnt a Mac theme...but incorporates what i like most of each

on the vista side:

-the Darkness of the task bar, and the lightness of the rest

-the blue circle with the winflag

on the mac side:

-Thinbar task bar

-mac caption buttons

-how close the apple is to the corner

-borderless appearance

Other things:

-Seamless transition from title bar to standard buttons

here is what i have as of now

My first problem is what to do about the caption buttons

i like the boxes that vista has...but i also like the mac circles

i think it might be best to go with mac circles but in vista colors

what do u think?

My second problem is I will need someone to make it.

The last thing I would like to do is to discourage you, but such things have been done before (none of them very good, imo). Your theme could be the first one to prove that it is possible to do it "right", true, but maybe you should try to come up with something more... original?

I have to agree with CriplingDream. If I saw that screenshot without reading your post, I wouldn't relate it to Mac at all.

And am I the only one who doesn't like the round start button in Vista?

But other than that it could be a nice theme...

You name mac-ish theme qualities-- but having these things in the theme do not necessarily make the theme look mac-ish. I agree that it looks ~90% vista-ish, hardly mac-ish, though I agree that it shares the mac traits you mention. Unless you manage to incorporate more obvious mac-ish visual cues (colors, glossiness, etc..), I'd recommend leaving off any mentioning of a mac influence. Good luck. From what I've seen so far (in general), Mac and Vista styles should be like water and oil. I challenge you to change my mind. Good luck.

i am not even developing a theme...i have no knowlegde of themebuilder so i am making an idea using MSpaint...maybe to have someone make it

the name implies that it isnt vista or mac....but it a mix....taking certain things from both of them

By no means to discourage you.... I would like to point out why I hate Vista's look-n-feel as much I love OSX's.

The main reason being, plathora of effects stuffed into a single interface of Vista... you have glass, glow and lot n lot of glassy shines all over the interface. Clearly, Vista is trying to achieve the coolness of OSX's interface and there is nuthing wrong with it. It's a welcome change that M$ is finally trying to improve.

But, That's where it ends... OSX, despite it's highly graphical and colourful interface has a more focus on simplicity and elegance... while Vista is very strong, in-your-face kinda interface. That's why when you want to merge two of these interfaces, you should consider 70:30 (OSX:Vista) proportion instead of 50:50, because Vista look is going to look stronger in latter situation.

I think to achieve the exact VistaMac look you trying to implement, your first priority should be making a Mac-ish theme with a pinch of Vista to it. Ideally, you should be making a MacVista instead of VistaMac !!

I would again say this, My post had no intentions to discourage you.

I was trying to put light on some fact that would rather help you in your venture. Now, I'm sorry I'm not a Visual Style Designer myself.. but I've modded some for my own usage.

As for Mac... I do own Mac.. not one, but two. as well as a XP box.

As for this site, this is a great community... and if you are mis-interpreting something you should ask for clearance rather than throwing hands out and blaming others. If you can't take some amount of negative comments then I doubt you would be able to build anything at all.

If we seem a bit harsh or critical, it's because we want this theme be the best it can be. Your last post(s) seemed to bit inflamatory, but I can understand your level of frustration-- theming is NEVER easy. There are a lot of HORRIBLE themes out there (just my opinion, but what have I done?) and I'd hate to see yours get lost among them. Well, from what I gathered, he just wanted someone to create a theme based on his idea - not create one on his own. But I still don't quite understand why he decided to leave these boards - there was nothing rude or disrespectful in the posts above. Maybe it's just because he thought combining vista and mac was such an original and innovative idea?
