Aqua-Soft Forumsit doesn't show up in iconpackager, so i figger it's time to hit the ol' reshacker. anyone know where i should look?

shmengie, scanner&cameras and scanner, are they the same?
because I can see scanner&cameras in iconpackager...
if this is not what you're talking about, i'm sorry 
ummm...well...yeah, i see the 'scanners & cameras' folder. but that is (apparently) different from the individual icons that show up in explorer. try this: if you have a scanner, change the icon in iconpackager then tell me how you did it.
and yes, i am bad...

I got it! I changed the scanner icon in My Computer...
Apparently the scanner icon is not in Shell32.dll but actually Wiadefui.dll, both are found in C:/Windows/System32. You'll Need ResEdit to edit these files. ( Search goodle, made by TGTsoft ) You'll also need IconDeveloper from Stardock.
Here's how I did it:
1. Open Wiadefui.dll in ResEdit
2. Find the the scanner icons in the tree menu. There should be three sizes ( 48, 32, 16 )
3. Press EDIT, it should open up IconDeveloper
4. In Icon Developer, press Insert and choose the PNG file you want to use as an icon. make sure it's the right size ( Ie: 32x32 ) If you need to resize the png, I'd do it in photoshop. The image resizer in IconDeveloper sucks and really kills the quality of the icon. So make three different sized PNGs using photoshop ( 48x48, 32x32, 16x16 )
5. Once you've replaced all the orginal icons in IconDeveloper and saved them ( they should show up in ResEdit ), then ( in resedit ) go to file/save as.. and save the file as Wiadefui.bak ( DO NOT SAVE AS wiadefui.dll ). Also make sure your not saving it as a RedEdit file.
6. Now do the same thing with wiashext.dll ( replace the icons with IconDeveloper ) and save it as Wiashext.bak ( not Wiashext.dll )
Once you've changed the icons in these two files... the fun begins!
7. Install RecoveryConsole from Microsoft ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;307654 )
8. Follow the instructions from Microsoft to install RecoveryConsole ( REALLY useful tool ) and reboot your system.
9. You should see a boot menu when you restart, something like " Windows Xp " and " Windows Recovery Console ". Choose RecoveryConsole.
10. Follow the instructions on screen. if you didn't set a adminastrator password just press enter when it asks you for one.
11. You should see a command prompt with " C:> "
use this command ( don't type the stuff in brackets )
[C:>] CD C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32
* note the spaces.
12. Once in system 32 type:
[C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32>]copy wiadefui.bak wiadefui.dll
13. overwrite the file. next do
[C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32|>]copy wiashext.bak wiashext.dll
14. overwrite the file.
But we're not quite done...
15. now type:
[C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32>] CD C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DLLCACHE
16. so close.... next type
[C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DLLCACHE>]delete wiadefui.dll
17. last part!
[C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DLLCACHE>]delete wiashext.dll
18. YOUR DONE! reboot and be happy.... this is WAYYY too complicated. but works like a charm. plus you can use this stuff to modify other files. including shell32.dll
You can skip steps 7-18 if you simply end explorer.exe using the Task Manager and then use the Browse Dialog opened by "New Task (Run)" to rename it. I believe I found the original tutorial on Iceman's site.

An Easier way - A cheaper alternative:
Required Software (Both are free):
ResHack - http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker
Replacer - http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/
1. Copy wiadefui.dll and wiashext.dll to your desktop, (or another folder of your choice)
2. Open the new wiadefui.dll with ResHack, Navigate to Icon/11/1033
3. Right click and press Replace Resource...
4. Open File with new Icon...
5. Select your new .ico file
6. Press Replace
7. File Save
8. File Open the new wiashext.dll, Navigate to Icon/18/1033
9. Right click and press Replace Resource...
10. Open File with new Icon...
11. Select your new .ico file
12. Press Replace
13. File Save, and close
14. Open Replacer.cmd
15. Drag the original /windows/system32/wiadefui.dll into the window, press enter
16. Drag the new wiadefui.dll, press enter, and then close (press any key)
17. Drag the original /windows/system32/wiashext.dll into the window, press enter
18. Drag the new wiashext.dll, press enter, and then close (press any key)
19. Restart Explorer
