The "metal" look on iTunes 6

The older version of iTunes (version 4 I think?) had the "metal" look instead of aluminum. If you don't know what I'm talking about look here:

The "metal" look is achieved because there is a horizontal gradient, where the center is lighter. But I can't figure out how to do horizontal gradients with the new iTunes skins, anybody know how?

I don't think you can, at least not at the moment.

Because Background_Top.bmp is stretched starting 2pixels from center.

I've made a color coded Background_Top.jpg which every vertical pixel is in different color:

Background_Top.jpg

And this is what you get:

bgtop.jpg

Changing the size won't even load that particular graphic...

Yea... I know what you mean. I was thinking that maybe a line in SkinData.ini would do the trick... maybe not.

Back in the days of iTunes 4, I have spent a lot of time trying to recreate the brushed effect from iTunes on OS X, and I've succeeded pretty well, except some problems that with my current knowledge I could probably overcome.

Maybe one day I'll include Brushed again as an option.

P.S., from tomorrow I'm on a vacation for a week, so I won't answer questions or such.

Thanks for the brushed skin, aquamanm.

That's not really what I was asking for, though. I was wondering how to achieve the horizontal gradient effect I described above. The brushed theme you posted is good but it doesn't achieve that effect.
