Application windows opening off screen

When i open pretty much any kind of new window.. or any new windows open such as a file download from internet explorer, or a new chat window in msn.. they appear off screen to the left.

Most windows i can right click on the taskbar and choose move, and move them with the keys, however some windows dont have the move feature, so i was wondering if there was any settings or an app i could use to prevent anything from going off screen at all

found an app that does exactly what you are talking about. i was searching for this all day after using a new mac and discovering this fancy behavior... the program doesn't constrain windows to the desktop by default... it only snaps them to the edge of the screen but i was delighted to see the constraining option in the settings section...

it's called allsnap:
