I'm new here, and i've searched the forums but i havent found out what program i can use to display information next to a icon for instance a a HD shortcut on the desktop with current and total space avalible and such, if anyone can tell me what i'm looking for it would be greatly appreciated!

AveDesk. There's an entire forum devoted to it here. Be sure to check out AveScripter and the numerous desklets available. PidlShortcut will show you a drive/folder.
