Weather with moon phases

For some weird reason I can't change the zip code/country... it resets itself to Montreal, Canada. :(

Like PCM said the best way to use it is type the city, state or zip code into the box, at this point dont enter it click the button next to the box you now get a dropdown list which you can select from.

Say for instance you type in Sydney and click the button next to it

You should see a list like this:

Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Canada

Sydney, Florida

If you're city , state or zip code that you typed in doesnt work it will just stay the last

one selected.

If the location you're looking for is supported by weather.com you can get it in the desklet.

There is a link to the site on the back of the desklet that will take you there.

But now I have another problem, i get the desklet to work. But when i reboot the computer the desklet forget my settings. why? And I have saved the theme.

#368869

Sounds strange.

A way to find out if it really is saving, is to create 2 themes.. and switch between them

#368925

i will try it.

First time i tried it didn´t work, next time it did.

wow nice work! :)

but there is one issue... when i reboot, the image of the sun/moon is gone, and i need to update again, which is a problem cause this pc has dialup. any way to make it remember the last update after reboot?

probably pushing it, but any chance of a glassy version?

I've seen that problem too, but not after a reboot...I leave my machine on 24/7 and it seems to be random...one morning I'll come in and the Hi/Lo/Temp are OK, but no icon. Have to restart the desklet to get it to appear. It's happened maybe 3 times in the last month...but I can't discern a pattern for it.

It is actually a random bug.

The problem Is I forgot to initilize a variable. Very rookie mistake of mine.

Its fixed in the next version, which I've been promissing for awhile. :)

I should be releasing the next version tonight. I'm double checking everything and packaging.

thanks pcm, look forward to it :)

ok i just tested it with the new version of avescripter, and i'm afraid its slightly worse :(

now when i load the widget, the little icon that you're supposed to click to 'flip' the widget over just keeps blinking and the widget stops responding. after about a minute or so, it stops and i can flip the widget over. i then input the data it needs (following the steps in this thread), and it updates all the temperatures correctly. but it does not show the sun or moon at all, only the clouds :(

i checked the error log, this is written in it many times:

5007 Microsoft JScript runtime error

'weatherIcons[...]' is null or not an object Line:392 Column:3

hope you can help :)

#376226

I see the problem the problem.. I've revert the show effect can you download the latest version..

Sorry about that.

#376262

thanks pcm, it functions perfectly now :)

but there is one small issue; when i click the widget as to bring up the 5-day forecast, the animation lags a bit and the widget flickers. i tried changing the quality of it to the lowest in desklet properties, but no difference. i suspect its the widget itself doing this though, and it also happend with previous versions of avescripter, but as i said it doesnt really bother me :)

#376454

It might not bother you, but it does to me. :P

if you get the chance can you try it with the original weather. An updated version is on the site.

And anyhow. Animation stuff is on my top list right now. I'm scratching and doing animation in a complete different approach that will allow more "control" etc..

Thanks

#376508

i spoke too soon :(

i'm now getting the N/A value instead of degrees celsius. i've tried clicking update data and refresh. the 5-day forecast values are still there though

the log is still showing this

5007 Microsoft JScript runtime error

'weatherIcons[...]' is null or not an object Line:392 Column:3

i'll get back to you on the animation issue

#376520

If you get a NA and its past 1 pm that means its weather.com that has stop giving information for the high of the day. Thats not an avescripter bug but a weather.com / desklet limitation.

Scripter never creates values when fetched from http or other sources. If no value is found, it returns blank. NA is the result from weather.com

weathericons is null is a desklet bug. Probably due to the NA value

#376679

This does not update at all. Please fix this.

#379477

Can you specify what is not being updated?

Have you tried another weather desklet?

Does it update when you manually update?

Need a bit more information. I personally never use this desklet. (Prefer using Hot Weather)

But they are all the same and should work fine.
