How To .bat Files In One Folder On Dock

Wondering if anyone knows how I can get .bat files to open in the pop-up menu. It only works if I open the folder and click on it - otherwise I get this message:

create a shortcut to the bat file and then link to the shortcut instead of directly to the bat file, that should solve the problem

a windows shortcut, that is.

That's what I thought I did. I made shortcuts to my desktop and put them in a folder and dragged to my dock.

*edit - works now. Thanks. I must have used "send to - desktop" instead of "send to - desktop (create shortcut)"
