I have released LabelsWin [Lite] 1.0: http://www.proggle.com/labels

This is an implementation of MacOS-like folder and file icon coloring functionality for Windows. The major differences between LabelsWin and other similar applications include dynamic colour overlay generation to preserve the original icon quality (no pre-rendered icons are used), and ability to label not only folder icons but file icons as well.

LabelsWin Lite can only apply colour labels to folder icons and is free.

LabelsWin can apply colour labels to file icons as well as folder icons and is shareware $9.95 with free trial and upgrades.

Well, I'm already pushing my luck with Windows Explorer and all this custom icon handling. I'm not sure if it allows for something like this, although I agree that would be cool. Then again, maybe it's the matter of a little investigation and experimentation (after all, that's how LabelsWin started). I have to mention that Windows Explorer internals are not a pretty sight... Thanks for the suggestion anyway!
