[req] Drive Detector Docklet?

This may be un-nessessary and perhaps not possible to do, but I was just thinking that maybe it would be nice to have a Drive Detector Docklet. Ya kno, like, how when you put a CD in a Mac it picks it up and has it appear on the desktop, then goes away when the CD is removed. Maybe, a docklet could do the same? Knowing albeik, he has already beat me to this idea and started developmnet :). I just wanted to take notice on how quick and good albeik is on docklets. but anyone who would want to maybe take a swing at this, please do. What does everyone else think about this idea?

Personally, I use the dock for program shortcuts only, placing devices shortcuts on the desktop, but I think it would be a useful docklet until we can emulate 100% the way OS X handles device detection.

Although, albeik seems pretty busy developìng/debuging his current docklets, so I would not demand more from him... I know the docklet fever has arrived already, but I rather the developers to improve the current ones.

That sounds like a very good and useful idea RaginAsian. It would also be great if it could do network drives too.

Of course, this probobly wont happen, because theres 100 docklet requests out there, but who knows.

PS. Since albeik grabbed the yzdocklets.com name, maybe he should make himself the "hub" of docklets, linking to others as they pop up. Also, posting Docklets people want, so developers can get ideas. Sort of like what people do with "Dock Apps" in Linux, if anyone knows about that.

can't happen and for the same reason that the taskbar function can't be done with the docklets... the docklets are not allowed to create a new item on the dock other than its own icon. at least that's if i've understood what's been said around the board right...

I agree all the way, And I think perhaps we should propose the idea of either him or someone helping him put in a message board system! It could be done really nice and easy, and it would instantly make it a hit. Not to mention probabaly take some of the load off of Design Technika and here!

DARN IT! I THINK YOUR RIGHT! well, then we need to get an SDK that CAN add and remove! Do I smell a "Suggestion" for the next SDK release? lol, thanks for pointing that out. Jee, seems like this idea went right in the gutter rather quick huh!

lol sorry >.< didn't mean to smash your hopes... but perhaps it might be added in the next sdk...
