[help] Does this exist on Windows?

Well this isnt a request, more like an inquiry. I would be interested in developing this app http://www.panic.com/desktastic/ for windows, but would like to know if something along these lines has already been done. Has anyone run across something like this?

Anyhoo, thats all :)

I have to see anything like that on windows yet. I would assume it hasnt been done yet :)

It's a neat lil app but right now i'm DYING for a Pixadex clone :P

#358161

lol Funny :). Never seen nothing like it for Windows. Would love to see it cloned by you.

#358165

Maybe it's just me but the fact of being able to scribble directly on the desktop is SOOO cool. Don't know of any software like this for Windows, either.

Oh yeah, I second that ;)

Please stay on topic guys...

i gotta say, between kapsules and nubs (works great, thx!) and whatever else you got coming up, you're really carving quite a niche for yourself. keep it up!

and yeah. i'd love to see this.

Litterally, I don't see the point in making that application. It serves no use at all. Seriously, who would just sit there and write on their desktop?

#358230

First time I see it... would be pretty cool if someone could make it available for Windows :D

Paralex - well going with google images, if you search for Desktastic you'll actually see quite a few people who use it to highlight something on their desktop for a screenshot (which I would most certainly write in functionality for). In that respect, it could be useful. I like the rubber stamp idea too. Imagine if you will an arrow graphic that you can stamp on several areas to point out details on your screen.

The first thing that comes to mind is the countless times that I've had to take a screenshot of Taskman, open it in Fireworks, highlight the process(es) then export to actually post the screen... I'm sure you can follow the logic there :)

I've already began to write this last night, but I wanted to see if it had been done already before I went ahead and moved on to more formal code, ect. Please do continue to discuss this!

It would be an app well worth the time it takes to program it.

This is the closest thing that I have found to do what you stated.

VB Doodle allows the user to capture their computer screen and make annotations or just draw on the desktop for fun.
Not as "fancy" as Desktastic by letting you draw directly to the desktop, but provides I guess the needed ability and function.

Thanks for the link. It definately gives me some good ideas :)

Sorry, just found this among SwissDelphiCenter ads:

Hey there...

I think this would be the best app for taking notes or ideas in both drawings and text.

I hate the widgets or desklets or whatever which try to ressemble real sticky notes (although some of em look great).

Would be great to have the possibility of showing n hiding the drawings by pressing something like f10 or maybe a key combination.

That program is tight, but the only way to find out whats inside the program, what thing makes it to work, also if it can be tweaked to work on windows. That can be difficult

Andrew, my comment wasn't inteded to disrespect any of your work. I just didn't know that people write on their desktops. I think you are a great developer (very inspirational, may i add). I would probably use this application in the future. :)

And I apologize if my comment may have offended you.

No worries paralex, I dont tend to take offense to posts much anymore :)

And thanks all for the comments.

Not to mention in my Robotics class they use a windows application that does this to draw on the screen to write notes, highlight, plan, and other things for the rest to see on the projector.

I don't know the the name of the application they use though, and it is most likely payware.

If I had Wacom monitor or Tablet PC, I'd definatly use this EXTENSIVLEY.

But I only have a regular old tablet, so I guess that could work too.

Well I did some lunchtime tinkering and have a good start...
