Set Program Access and Defaults Bitmap or Icon

Does anyone know where the Bitmap is that displays the Set Program Access and Defaults bitmap in the Add or Remove programs dialog box?

It isnt located in appwiz.cpl though all the other bitmap's down the left hand coloumn are, e.g. the "Change or Remove Programs" bitmap. I want to edit this bitmap so it shows up in the add or remove programs dialog box but cant find it .

No problem. The bitmaps you used for the other 3, what did you save those as? Are they 32bit bitmaps with transparency? Yours look really smooth, and when I tried a 32bit bitmap, it didn't show the transparency, so I had to use normal bitmaps with magic pink.

I would love to know what you created the bitmaps in, as I have had no luck with 32bit bitmaps in Add/Remove Programs. This is how mine come out everytime:

I've tried two ways. Using IconWorkshop to export the icon as a bitmap with transparency, and I've saved the icon as a 32bit PNG file, and used GIF Movie Gear to save it as a 32bit bitmap file. Neither method works like it should. Grr...

This is how I did it:

I used microangelo and saved the icons with the following preferences:

Size: 32x32

File Type: PNG

I think opened up the saved PNG files in Photoshop CS2 and saved them with the following preferences:

OS: Windows

File Type: Bitmap

Colour Depth: 32BIT

This hopefully should solve your problem as when I instered the PNG's into photoshop they had a transparent background. I was able to save them without adding any "magic pink" or anything else. I have seen your icons and I can see what you have done, I would of probably done it the same way If I couldnt get the transparancey to work. But try my method above.... it worked for me, I hope it works for you.

While this thread is open, I have another question. Would it be possible to tell me what other dll's or files contain windows icons? I really dont know any of them except the control panel .cpl files and shell32.dll.

LOTS of files contain lots of icons. explorer.exe, mydocs.dll, netshell.dll, printui.dll, etc.

A great tool I use to search for a specific icon or to find files with icons I've missed, is IconsExtract. It can search by wildcards, for icons matching certain sizes or color depths, etc: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/iconsext.html

Also, Yoodle, I have a slight feeling your images aren't actually fully transparent. I think it just so happens that the visual style you are using, the background is the same color as the alpha mask. To test, switch to KoLs Tiger style, and check out Add/Remove Programs and post a screenshot. Because I did the Photoshop method, and Photoshop saves the background mask color as a whitish color, whereas most programs do black, so it "looks" smooth but I don't think it will work across all visual styles.

Ah I see what your saying and it appears you are right, it looks great with the visual style I am currently using, but not so great with kol's tiger visual style. Here is the screenshot you wanted:
