[Help] Windows Taskbar

Hi, I am quite new to the whole visual change of windows. I am wondering if there is any way to get rid of items in the taskbar? For example when I have Windows media player open on the task bar it will say "windows media player" is there anyway to get rid of that so when i have programs open it wont show anything?

A few months back I was looking for the same funtionality for a different application. The only program I found that could do this was Actual Window Guard. Unfortunately it costs $20 and I was not so fussed as to purchase.

It can be purchased as part of the same companies Actual Window Manager for $40 which also comes with a number of other seemingly useful programs.

Other than the above my search continues.

Well I looked around and have found a program that does it called trayer which costs $12.

Thankfully version 2.3 and earlier were freeware and you can find 2.3 here.

Even this early version (dated 1998) seems to work great and offers some neat options.

Here's a quick program I whipped up in a couple of minutes that will hide the Running Tasks from the taskbar. Just register the dll and then run the program - it'll remain in the system tray. To get the tasks back, simply close the program (right-click and select "Exit").

Does exactly what you want and the best part - it's free! ;)
