I'm on a my mac mini here and on the box of the router/modem i got it said something about there being a firewall and stuff, I have also heard many people talk about how mac's can't get viruses is this true? Basically all i want to know is if it is worth buying nortaan anit-virus or not?
[question] Is it worth buying Norton?
right now its a waste of money and space, there aren't that many virsus and only a few trojans and both are very rare unless you download something you shouldn't be
ight then thanks for that
yep i second that. the most hackable and prone to viruses/worms/trojan yadda yadda is M$ Windoze
(man, am i at risk)
Macs can get viruses - just there arn't that many out there. You are still vulnerable unless you take the necessary precautions whiile surfing/downloading....
Probably not worth it (especially considering the usual quality of Symantec's home products) but I would consider activating the default Mac OS X firewall at the very least.
how do u do dat?
System Preferences -> Sharing -> Firewall
unless it is a intel mac [which are rumored to have some security issues], then no.
k then thats saved me £50 odd quid

Bogus rumor... the intel mac is no more or less vulnerable than it's PPC counterpart.
It's the same codebase.
