[Help] RKLauncher gets really slow after a while?

I have RKLauncher installed on my PC at work, but I've noticed it gets really slow after running for an hour or two. By slow I mean all the animations seem to take a ton longer (zoom effect, etc). If I close and restart, all is fine again...until the next time it gets slow again.

Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? I basically copied the folder from my home laptop where RKLauncher seems to work just fine.

Thanks,

- Matt.

I have that problem, if you have the trash docklet in your dock just remove it off your dock then restart your computer.

see if it still is slow...

There is something wrong with the trash docklet, for me anyway.

Nope, I don't think I have any docklets running. Just application icons. :-(

Are you using nightlies?

I never had such issue. And I have 2 docklets (trash can and Ave Calendar). Strange...

#356276

Nope, just the 0.4 beta from before the website went down. At least restarting the application helps. Would it be because I simply copied the directory from my home PC?

No, I don't think so. That how it's supposed to be installed: download the .zip file, unzip it and copy it to Program Files. I always install it like that.

Maybe you should try the nightlies...

I uploaded the latest 0.41 nightly to Rapidshare here:

never used rapidshare before, so I hope the link works for you all

I had broadband over the summer, and I used to leave my computer on 24/7

With Y'z Dock after about a week this would happen, I would close and restart it and it would be fine.

I never really figured out the problem cause.., well.., needing to take a week to test it makes it kinda hard.

back to dial-up now..., useless to leave the thing on all the time

Maybe I'll try one of the latest builds instead and will see how that goes.

It looks like I've found the culprit! I have an OpenGL based screensaver that must have been messing things up. Whenever I came back from screensaver mode and clicked a button on RK Launcher, that's when the slowness would begin. Now that I'm using a different screensaver (standard Windows starfield) everything works great. I wasn't using the same screensaver at home and that's why things were fine there.

The screensaver collection was Really Slick Screensavers from: http://www.reallyslick.com/

Great screensavers, but I prefer Flurry!

Never tried Flurry, but will have to check it out.

You can find Flurry here.

If I remember correctly, Flurry is also included in Flyakite Pack.

I did try Flurry and it looks great. But since it is OpenGL based, I had the same problems again with RK Launcher. It might be the hardware in this Dell computer at work. I've ran some tests at home and the same slowness issues do not occur on my Compaq laptop.
