Waaa!!
Please how can i skin the progress bar on my PC?
I remember that someone (goku maybe?) had create a program for this, isn't it? In my memory, it didn't run with XP SP1 ??
Please, does someone have an answer to my metaphysical question?

Valéry
That progress bar aren't skinned. It's an avi file that must be replaced in the shell32.dll file, using any resource hacker.
Iceman.
change dll ( resource hacker) AVI
SHDOCVW.dll shimgvw.dll shell32.dll
Hi iceman web site down? ![]()
Maybe I'm clueless, but yeah....I'm getting an error from ResHack whenever I try to replace that -- I do all the configuring/renaming right, but it says that it cannot rename the .dll and refuses to save...
Sweet_laurel, I'm not sure exactly what process you are using but first copy the dll file to your desktop and edit that version. Once you have it saved, then you have to replace the file
1) make sure "view hidden files and folder" is not checked through folder properties and "view protected operating system files" is unchecked
2) end explorer.exe through task manager
3) go to File, New Task, then Browse
4) browse to the edited dll on your desktop and right click and copy or use Ctrl+C
5) Navigate to windows\system32 and rename the originall dll to shell32.bak or whatever, then right click somewhere and select paste or just use Ctrl+V.
6) Do this for each modified file because you cannot copy multiple files at a time this way.
Hope this works for ya ![]()
I have downloaded the avi and resource hacker and tried to replace the avi in all 3 dlls and none of them have an avi of a progress bar, what am I doing wrong?
OK, so i go into the AVIs and i replace the AVI (the right way) and the new bar shows up in the DLL file and then if i go to save doesnt work, cant write.
I then tried the other method of closing explorer.exe and copying and pasting and i didnt get any errors except for one of the DLLs was in use and it still wont work, ideas?
Contrasutra, I don't know if you have tried these methods yet, but if not, give them a shot. For one, you absolutely have to replace the dll file in windows\system32\dllcache. That file HAS to be replaced for things to work properly. My next suggestion is to restart the computer. If the system32 and dllcache files are replaced then it should be grabbing the avis out of one of the files. Otherwise, with just system32 replaced it is still using the avis stored in the cache. Let me know if it works.
OK, so i go into dllcache folder and i replace the appropriate files with the new AVI. it saves fine and then i restart. (i then checked the file and the AVI was sill the new one) then i go to edit/replace the files in the system32 folder and it says that the files are in use by another program. Ive tried the way of closing explorer and the way of using Reshacker to edit it directly. Same problem with both. What am i doing wrong?

Iceman's turorial is great. I strongly suggest reading it to anyone who does not know how to replace system files. Nice job susumu. Looks great. ![]()
Okay, in case you don't read Iceman's tutorial, here you go.
Don't edit files in ResHacker directly.
1) First, copy the files you want to edit to a folder on your desktop.
2) Edit those files and save them.
3) Now, in Folder Options, make sure "View hidden files and folders" is checked and "view hidden operating system files" is checked.
4) In Task Manager, end explorer.exe.
5) Go to New, then Task, and click Browse.
6) Navigate to one of your modified dlls. Select it and either Ctrl+C to copy it or right click and copy it.
7) Navigate to \windows\system32. Rename the file in system 32 to something else, shell32.dll.bak, or shell32.bak, or whatever.
8) Ctrl+V or right click and paste to paste your modified file in the directory.
9) Navigate to dllcache and do the same thing.
10) Do this for each modified file then restart the computer. Hopefully that should work.
Thanks, the tutorial worked well. I like the theme also, almost perfect replica of OS X.
My pleasure
Enjoy the stuff.
so correct me if I"m wrong, but there is no way to skin the actual progress bar like on a mac for windows?
