Compared to what? AveDesk then yes. Put it against other similar style programs and you'll find operationally it is the next best app to AveDesk. So, I have to disagree.
While it's been awhile he did update portions of it in late summer. Considering it involves one developer that's not to bad. It is stable and functioning.
I bought DesktopX in early 2006 and saw only two updates in the fall from a commercial developer. Contrary to popular belief most stable, functioning apps aren't updated all that often before the next major release.

HA ha ha! this is so nice writen program that on my pc uses most of the time mem 3meg.... and 0% of cpu powert!

Yeah, SirSmiley, I was comparing it to AveDesk AND Desktop Sidebar (and even DesktopX)...
As an old software developer - more than 20 years! - I couldn't agree more with you regarding update policy for stable, functioning apps but, as you've said, it's an effort of just one developer, and the last developed "pod" was issued at 05/04/2006 (there is a new skin for this pod issued at 08/05/2006); that's why I said it seems dead for about a year. I just think it should have got either more community engagement or more news from the developer - the last post at the site is the aforementioned skin (just a thought...)
So, why have I said it's too CPU-intensive? Well, after installing it I've started adding pods to it and soon I've reached 47-53% (!!!) of CPU steady consumption by podXP, and I was far from using all of the nice pods shown by lefool at the first post above! (Pentium D 1.73 GHz, 512 MB RAM)
I know I must try it more, but this wasn't a good first trial scenario, was it? For me, it must pass more use-case scenarios (test-cases, to be precise) before issuing a go-don't go opinion...

Panta, I see your point. Before PodXP he had another similar app that ran amazingly low on resources... if memory serves me correctly it was averaging less than 1mb.
However, it wasn't as customizable and I switched to AveDesk.

Let's keep watching podXP and see what comes up in the long term... It'd be nice hearing something from lefool in this thread; I wonder whether he is following it.
