Yes, the leaked version is beta 1. This is a preview of beta 2, as in, it's beyond beta 1.
You know.. I think it still stinks.. 
All I can say is that that is one of the most screwy interfaces I've ever seen in any app. They seperated the Refresh/Stop button(It was weird to begin with, just leave it alone!!), the icons all fit to the new IE icon which unforunately does not fit in with Xp at all, and the Refresh button in tabs is just weird. I don't know if M$ has a set of rules for user interface guidlines but if it does, this breaks everyone. I wonder how the general population is going to be able to adapt to this if M$ doesn't totally reform this interface. (This is what I noticed in the first 5 seconds of using it.)

It's like Firefox, just with a haphazard, unpleasant to look at interface. They can do better than that, really, they must... please........

I personaly don't care for the new button arrangement myself.
I hope M$ implements the abilty to move the buttons around like FF.
Other than that, it's not too bad once you get used to it.

but I just hate the skin...I'll try it this week, see if it's any better than IE 6 and we'll see 
Unfortunately I won't be installing it anytime soon.
I had the leaked beta version but I couldn't see any compelling reason to change browsers.

The fact that this release is officially supported is reason enough to stop using a leaked version and start using an official version.

I guess I wasn't clear- what reasons is there to switch from Firefox/Opera which I currently use?
Anyway I'm no longer using the leaked beta- have just reverted back to IE6.
QuickTabs is a really neat feature which Firefox does not have (anyone know the keyboard shortcut for it?). On the other hand I simply cannot live without Firefox's inline search. I guess I'll use both.

None, of course. IE7 is merely an incorporation of mostly Firefox features into IE, along with some Opera features. The UI is terrible, the graphics are UGLY (what's up with the jaggies on those back/forward buttons?), and the thing still lags behind in standards support. Diehard IE users will hate it because it's like Firefox. Firefox users will hate it because they already have everything plus extensions and themes. Opera users will hate it because... well, Opera users are insecure anyway.

Its terrible. FF still looks better, is safer, is faster, is more customizeable, is more functional, and is open source.
I tried the Beta 2, one of the major things I hate about it is that it distorts pictures and text. It looks like Microsoft tried to immitate the clean look of Apple's fonts, but failed misrably. When compaired to FF 1.5, text is much blurrier and pictures are slightly more blury/grainy.
Firefox is faster? I use a nightly build customised for my architecture and I still find it slower than Opera and IE. Maybe that has something to with the plugins I have loaded but if you take those away half the benefits of FF disappear. If it wasn't for the plugins Opera would be the clear winner for me
In the face of the WMF exploit I don't think that the basic it-is-safe-cause-it-isnt-IE argument is really as valid as it was when FF first came out. As long as you don't do anything stupid (hopefully no one here will) I think IE can be just as safe as FF (on Windows of course).

Nothing is absolutely secure, but the any-browser-but-IE-is-more-secure argument is still true, simply because IE is still integrated into Windows. If Firefox screws up, it doesn't take down your entire operating system with it.

Ahh the things that spew forth from the uneducated.
Yes, IE has hooks into the OS, but none that can "take it down" any more so than any other application.
FF and any other Windows app for that matter, are just as capable as IE in it's ability to crash Windows.
I've had, and on more than one occasion, had FF freeze and lock/hang my entire system.
Only a hard boot recovered it.
