[Help] Smooth Appearance Fonts

Hi,

I was just wondering where it's possible to download fonts that have that sort of mac smoothed effect. I know that there is a guide for creating this effect with windows fonts, but I like having smooth type turned on for websites and such, and don't want regular smoothing as the look is less appealing.

Some fonts which I have appear very smooth and 'mac-like' even with cleartype turned on: LucidaMac and LucidaMacBold for example and the OB font. I just wondered if there are more of these style of fonts becuse I'd like a little more variety than these three, and I tend to find that some of the lettering in LucidaMac (though not in bold( is uneven, as with theOB font.

I've searched on the net for Type 1 fonts, which all these three are on my machine, but downloading others, they look just like the standard windows ones, so I thought somebody here might know a good resource for them.

Perhaps the Soulless fonts? If you look hard at Duckie's forums (therealduckie.net), you can find them. If you don't have any luck, I'll send them to you.

nightcrawler... the link seems to be broken. Clicking on it does not work, and copying and pasting to the address bar gives this error in FF:

"(none) 65.33.112.247 /board/i...?showtopic=208 www.therealduckie.net Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 404 And just what the **** do you think you are doing?"

Quite interesting. :P

This is a link that works. Whoever invented The Wayback Machine was a genius!

Weird, it was working when I gave the link a day ago.

i'm using TTEdit (share), TTFGasp (free), TTFMod (free), TTModify (free)

(if you don't have them, google for it. )

1. drop the font to TTFGasp.exe (antialias is ON with all font size)

2. Open the font with TTFMod.exe

3. gasp --> hinting OFF

4. save the font

5. Open the font with TTModify.exe

6. file --> delete table --> cvt --> ok

to change the font name, i'm using TTEdit.

it also make the font bolder :)

Hi, thanks for your advice. Does anyone have a link to an english text version of TTFMod.exe because I can't find it. I think I have the same program in Japanese, but I can't locate any of the options.

Thanks in advance for any help.
