[Help] Open/Save Dialogues

I just wondered if anyone knew how to change the defalt size of the dialogue windows. I use quite large icons and thumbnails, and it's frustrating to resize the dialogues every time they open and for the settings never to be remembered.

I know there are (shareware) apps that can do this as well as extend functionality, but really, I don't want an app running all the time just for this one function.

For which prgrams are you talking about? Cos different programs hook into different dialogue boxes?

I have tried a few examples, Winamp Open dialog, resize it close it open again its the same.

Also WinXp opening pictures I tried the Copy To button , open, resize, close, reopen and it styas the size i resized to so no probs for me.

Maybe post a few pics to help us out a bit more

I mean the open/save dialogues supported by the shell. Paint and notepad both use these shell dialogues, and so do the vast majority of programs. It's not so much remembering the size during a session, but when you reboot, or earlier sometimes, the sizes default back.

I search the same but unfortunately I didn't find it. I've just find a software called "Enregistrer Sous Editeur" ("Save As Editor" in English) that can change some details in Open/Save Dialogs ...

hi.

its very easy to change the size of this dialog.

1. Open (with reshacker) the comdlg32.dll.

2. Go to "dialog 1525/1031" Now you see the Open/Save as-Window

3. In the first line you can change the window size (i change it to "1552 DIALOGEX 0, 0, 450, 380")

4. To change the left boarder in the window, click on the boarder. reshacker shows you the right line in the config. (with a red star)

4. Here change the size to "CONTROL "", 1184, "ToolbarWindow32", 0x50012B4C, 4, 22, 58, 340 , 0x00000200"

5. Save the comdlg32.dll and use replacer to replace it. After a restart, your open/save dialog is bigger.

Thankyou so much, I had been searching for a long time for this, and never realised it was so simple. Actually, I realised, in case you are interested, that you can just drag the dialogue to whatever size you want and the scipt changes are made automatically, then just compile in reshack and save. Dreamz on Neowin told me that.
