ok.. heres the deal i had a agp 8x version of the NviDia GeForce 6600 256mb but it was faulty so i returned it, and now they will replace it with a pcie version.
right now im concerned about further upgardes i know i will hgave to upgrade my mobo for the pcie card but i am not sure if i have to upgarde my cpu.
if u wanna know what kind of cpu i ot its a Intel Pentium 4 2.80ghz 478.

Yes you will have to. I dont think socket 478 has PCI-E motherboards. You would have to upgrade to LGA 775. Also, that would most likely mean you would need a new Powersupply as well. The 20pin plug that yours has wont work (20pin is the one that goes into the motherboard). LGA 775 uses a 24pin. Or you might be able to request that they give you an AGP card.
yeah i didnt think they would have a socket 478 and a pci-e slot...
the only reason i got it as a pci-e version is that the agp somehow stuffed up and the guys at the store said there only recieving pci-e versions from now on. and if i where to replace my agp version they would have given me a 128mb graphics card as a replacment since thats the only agp card in the store.
well how much do you think it will cost for the cpu,power supply and mobo?
im guessing the cpu would be the most expensive part.

Powersupply: ~70 $
Mobo: ~70$

Prices vary for the quality and quanity... I would say if your looking for something decent, somewhere around 300 or so.
