[Question] Miranda instant messager and people off my list...
if you're talking about MSN messages, try this:
go to Options>>Network>>MSN
and make sure "Disable all contacts not included into my contact list" is not checked.
if it's ICQ:
Options>>Network>>ICQ Privacy
and uncheck "Only reply to status message requests from users on my contact list"
if it's another network try to find the right "Network" setting for it.

That's curious. I've had the same problem (and I've been a Miranda user longer than you've been on these forums 
), but mine stops showing "Offline" once I enter a message in and send it to them.
Does it actually display the offline error when you try sending a message to them, or do they simply remain offline?

Follow udi9's suggestion. AIM settings are found here:
Miranda Options-->Network-->AIM Contacts-->"Only reply to users in your contact list."
Uncheck that and see if it works.

For whatever reason, Miranda will list them as offline until such time as you add them to your contact list. You can still talk to them just fine, but until you add them, it's not going to let you start a conversation with them.
