[help] Unable to display web based images

Hey all,

First post here - but I'm a long time lurker and fan of AveDesk and SysStats.

It's a pity my first post has to be a call for help, but I guess whatever gets me posting can't be a bad thing.

For some strange reason I can't seem to get AveDesk to display any images from the internet. This has only become an issue when I tried using the latest version of SysStats that supports web based images as a source for the ImageOverlay, and tried playing around with it.

I then tried using the WebComic desket for AveScripter, and that failed to show any images either.

It's not my internet connection in general, because my weather widget and RSS feeds work fine.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

can you give me a link or an example of what your doing. Cause the comic is webbased and it should work all the time with avescripter

Well, the AveScripter desket I'm having problems with is the 'Scribbly Comics Desklet', which is in the AveScripter forum here.

I just installed it as I would any other desklet, and those other desklets work fine.

The issue is not that my desklets can't access the internet, just they can't display images sourced from the internet.

What's kind of interesting is that when I try using SysStats to display a web based image, I can't display something from www but I can display images from a web server I have running locally.

So, http://www.google.com/images/logo_google_suggest.gif doesn't work

but, http://localhost/myApp/myImage.gif does work.

I'm thinking that maybe AveDesk is having trouble with my proxy settings, although Firefox and IE work perfectly fine.

have you tried the beta version at www.avedesk.org? I fixed the alot of issues with proxy server.

This isn't an avedesk problem, its a avescript and sysstat.

I know that in avescript I've done a big redesign on how I get stuff off the web. But that version is a beta version. to try it you need to register at avedesk.org and download it.

Please let me know... I want to make sure it's all ok.

Guess I just need to bug Judge now to see if he can patch SysStats to fix this.
