AveDesk 1.4 Aqua style

- better organized

- one, pretty looking, list

- only the essential data is shown

- using different fonts (sizes) for different information

- using preview icons

- Search-as-you-type iTunes style.

- instant loading, no more waiting before the dialog pops up

still thinking about

Web-integration: getting the latest updates from different sites directly into the add-desklet dialog.

- check for updates button. Would be really handy if you can update your desklets with one click.

I like it!

Here's my idea (done in Paint :P)

Obviuosly the window needs to be bigger to accomodate the text box.

The title of each Desklet could also be made larger, i.e Calculator, Battery, the font should be larger.

That's all i can think of so far..:)

That's looking pretty good Ave and I like the idea of an desklet update button. Can't wait to try it out!

if you were to create a widget update button it would also give you a great opportunity to have a single site dedicated to avedesk widgets, like the one you've already started on..

This could also increase the frequency of future widgets

yeah, that looks pretty cool!

great ave ! i like it.

Nice idea, but something's bothering me still...

I was even thinking of integrating the running widgets window and add window (kinda Widget dock style). Running widgets are showing their live image, while widgets available for adding show their small icon and a button (like Play or so). We press the button - and wow, the widget goes live! To have multiple widgets we will have to duplicate them. Also in every active widget line of the list we have Close button and a Window Style toggler(On Top, On Bottom, Pinned to desktop and so), and maybe even Reload for AveScripter configs. How do you like this? If you heed an illustration, wait for a few hours (I'm at work now)

#352645

don't know if I like the idea of one-list-to-rule-them-all:

If I have a pidlshortcut, it will be shown as running.

If I want to make a new one, I have to duplicate it.

How user-friendly is to duplicate a Trash Can to get a My Computer desklet ? :slant:

Already showed it to ave, but...

So, what's the difference between this an Ave's preview? You have the search box on the right (he said he hates it) and non-terminating button Add on the bottom (this is not recommended by the Human Interface Guidelines). Nothing conceptual...

2 Ave: I think you should consider its skinning for not starting holy war between "on the right" and "on the left".

For me doesn't matter if the search box is on the left or right. Neither the buttom's position. Just created it cause I think that if we put "Add" and "close" in the bottom saves a LOT of space.

#353965

To save the space I'd suggest to remove the Add button at all. Doubleclick item, as well as rightclick->Add or just drag it to the desktop.

I Agree with you.
