Is there a mail notifier desklet for Hotmail or how to mod Gmail by judge to work with Hotmail?

One of the problems with this is that you have to use an outside source to retrieve mail for Hotmail. I think there was a POP3 addon for Hotmail which worked for some Hotmail accounts but not all.
