I've been customizing the Windows GUI for years now, and from time to time I've written a helpful tutorial. I've decided to go ahead and create a 12 article series on completely reworking the WinXP GUI (the name of the articles will be "Breaking the GUI"). At the moment I'm not certain what outlet I will use to distribute the series (Aqua-Soft, another forum, a specific site or some other medium). I want to know from some of my fellow experts here what you think a good progressive order would be for the different aspects of customization?
Obviously, in the first article I want to touch on simple mods for beginners and move towards a more complex approach with each article. The idea is that grandma could pick up the series from article #1 and by the last article be a complete GUI master. Items I will cover include themes, icons, skins, reg hacks, third party software, OS emulation and transparency. Any ideas will be helpful.
Please understand that the article will not focus on OSX on WinXP. Aqua-Soft handles that need just nicely. This will be a summary of almost every tweak and GUI mod I've learned over the past 6-7 years.
