[help] Gradient problems with some themes

Can anyone tell me why on certain themes that have a fade to the middle in the menu bar, whenever I open a window normally, then maximise the window, the gradient is all out of whack? It annoys me enough that I don't use some otherwise very good themes.

See the pictures below [demonstrated with Eternal Aqua] for examples. First pic is normally opened window, second is window maximised. It also happens if the window opens maximised then I restore it. I just want to know if it's a limitation with Visual Styles, maybe a badly patched uxtheme, or some other hardware, or even driver problem. I can't be the only one this happens to.

System Specs:

Dothan 1.6Ghz

1GB RAM

1680x 1050 widescreen

GeforceGo 5200

XP Home SP2, all patches.

I would presume that this happens because every theme that uses a gradient has to hack it in; you're experience a byproduct of said hacking.

Don't double post or bump your thread. You're certain to win the ire of a moderator that way :P.

So are you saying it's just a badly made theme then? And do you have the same problem?

Because if I remember correctly, I don't have this problem with a theme like Longhorn Alternative. Although, heh, that theme was groundbreaking in so many ways...

I've never used a theme with a gradient, so I couldn't tell you if I had the same problem.

The themes aren't badly made: they're just trying to force Windows to do something it can't do natively. This results in a hack being done to simulate the effect in question. No one promised it'd be perfect.

Thanks a lot for your thoughtful replies. I guess I will just try and either deal, or use themes without it. It's a pity though, since many beautiful aqua themes like Eternal have them. Maybe the guys who make the few that work properly have some secret.

Peace out.
