hi zpodseven!
U're bold...posting ur 3d work up and title it PIXAR? ppl might start flaming, coz this got nothing to do wif Aquafying....
Haha jus kidding, no offence dude.
Anyway u r brave to do wad i dun dare, and i often wonder how many 3d artists r
lurking in this forum who shares the same passion for 3d and aquafying like u and I....
Great scene u hav there, nice modeling. U using light tracer for that render rite?
U might wanna turn off volumes in light tracer setting to eliminate the blotchy effect in the shadows.
jus my 2 cents. hope ur not offended. ![]()
ill also post my recent work here, thou its got nothing to do wif aquafying...
work in progress, learning unwrap now...
If other 3d artists r reading this would u guys make urselves known? ![]()
lovely work both of you guys!
Wish my computer art skills were as good as my traditional ar skills..
im a max guy as well. Animating is my thing more than the others.
make that animated and have the light go out like its a bad bulb
Here's a 3D object that I did several years ago using Lightwave 3D version 4. I just updated the screen to my mac's screenshot.

Nothing fancy here because 3D animation programs were limited during that time.

mainly the aqua ![]()
A few more "tiny" samples of what i did a few years back.

Actually, there's tons more but I didn't bother to convert them from videos. heh
Kinda funny that while Steve Jobs owns Pixar, they use Dells for the animation.
I use Maya 4.5, and Lightwave 7.5, among others (Maya is my favorite).
Here's something I did with 3DSMax:

That was done about 2 years ago by me, I'm not on my main computer so I can't show you anything else.
I love this one: http://pixar.com/shorts/gg/theater/short_320.html

Sorry but I have to correct you on that. They use hundreds of Silicon Graphics (SGI) machines for almost all their animation work.
I 2nd that GB. I read a article about that last week. Ill post a link if I can find it again.
Interesting GB.. I just read that the were getting rid of the SG and doing 95% of the rendering in a linux cluster farm. the story is in slashdot somewhere.
I didn't mean to imply that all they use are Dells, but the majority of machines I saw in a short "Finding Nemo" piece on TV one night, were Dells.
What I said still stands. Up until the time they did Monsters, Inc., Pixar used hundreds of SGI machines in conjunction with Sun servers. The Sun machines were used as a render farm. It was only last year (about 6-8 months ago) that they started to switch their render farm Linux based on Xeon machines. So even Nemo was mostly done using SGI. The Dells are the new Xeon machines which will be used for future films because SGI & Sun's rendering speeds are too slow compared with today's systems.
So the Dells that Xavier Red mentioned were used to speed up rendering of Nemo during the last few months of production. Almost all their 3D work was still done on SGIs.
@zpodseven
Like your style, maybe as a advice you might try another renderer. like Renderman.
The problem with Max is when you render something like for instance a light, it looks too fake, to plastic, too clean.
When you render something like for instance a light in Lightwave or Renderman, it has ambiance right away out of the box.
Cheers!
PS: A Lightwave 5.5 3d render i made for the office i modelled a few months ago.
like 15 minutes work or something but it has ambiance....
