I don't know if this is possible but... I would like a widget/desklet that could extract image files from .dmg files. If this is possible it would be greatly appreciated if someone could give it a shot. Thanks. ![]()
(request) Extract from .dmg
I don't think that is possible under Window.
Too much hassle for limited usability (and incosistent results).
Somebody cough*developers*cough should look into decoding/extracting DMGs on Windows and write an app/library.
The point is, as much as i'd like to be able to do it, it's not realy useful.
Writing a whole app/library just so we could get an icon or resources from a Mac app from time to time?
Seems a bit pointless to me.
And thats your oppinion. My oppinion is, this would be very useful for me. Maybe even to others.
And my opinion is, all this aqua-emulation crap is useless anyway
what's one more useless utility going to do to hurt us?
I have used Ultra Iso and it usually works fine with widgets dmg files....
You know, I have d/l-ed Ultra Iso and do not have a clue how to use it. Is there a detailed tut somewhere that you know of. I've done a google but nothing. Maybe I'm useing wrong keywords or something.
I've tried to use dmgtoiso http://vu1tur.eu.org/tools/
Then use daemon tools to mount the ISO?
But I didn't have much luck. Maybe you will...
I want Ultra Iso too, where can I find it?
Try with any of the 6 possible methods:
1. TRANSMAC 6.1, software made for exactly this job,
2. dmg2iso.pl in PERL also made just for this job,
3. Some wangle with Daemon Tools (mount .dmg to virtual drive thus "Files of Type" -> "All Files *.*" -> Select .dmg to mount) then extract or access
4. Recordnowmax 4.5
5. IsoBuster
6. MacDrive + Ultra ISO followed by Alcohol 120%
smoovie, dload Ultra Iso, locate dmg file, open with ISO and just drag and release the files to another folder or ck in your 'my iso' folder created by the program....
I will be trying a few of these to see if I can get one to work. Starting with ntchemist938's since I already have ultra iso. Thanks. ![]()
EDIT: @ntchemist938 ... when I try to open a dmg file with ultra I get an error saying unknow or invalid image format. Any ideas? I think this is why I haven't been useing it.
EditEDIT: @GillBates ... I have used transmac and extracted the guiKit from the dmg but now I'm lost. Any help with this one. Thanks. ![]()
You can try magiciso. It is a good iso creator. You can use MagicISO to extract .dmg file or convert dmg file to iso image.
read their tutorial.
