Making caption (min/max/close) buttons always visible

OK i want to mod an existing theme to make those buttons always visible, currently they only show when the window has focus. which .bmp resource would i need to mod in reshack to do this? i've searched but can't really find it. thanks..

If you are using a Windowblinds skin you would need SkinStudio by Stardock. Unfortunately you need to pay for that.

You only need to pay for the Skinstudio Pro version that makes Windows Media Player Skins. The regular version is free I believe.

Well up until 4.6 anyway.. Not sure if they have version 5 out yet.

well this is just a .msstyles so i was hoping to do it with reshack, do you know which resource it would be then?

If it is a .msstyles then you can edit it with StyleBuilder which can be found at www.tgtsoft.com .It's a trial version but you can edit your file within 30 days with this. When you have the prg installed ,you can easy edit every part of your file. Well, good luck for editing.

i think what the question was, is not what software to use,

but where to look for the correct BMP's

the problem with editing someone elses MSStyle is that there is no standard resource name

for any of the BMPs.

i'm sure if you e-mail the author of the skin, they should be able to tell you.

or if you post the name of the skin here, someone could help you a little more.

I know what ja450n is talking about, but I said ,with that prog you can edit every little bmp from that resource ,indifferent of its name. I think this is the easyest way to edit a .msstyles file, and you will know how to edit those caption bmp files.

true true. i searched around a bit and found it. in case anyone is curious it's that awesome areao4 theme, i've made a few mods to it, including now these caption buttons always visible, changing the scroll bars to be more visible, and making the scroll arrows more visible too (import from another theme) probably can't redistribute it cuz the author wouldn't like that but who knows.
