Nothing fancy, just trying out some line art ...

Any suggestions for the background? Looks really dull...

some things i would try right off the bat...

the whole thing looks very static. you might try angling the polaroid a bit. move the bottom in to the right a little, probably 15-20°. in the line art, the lips and nostrils need to be softened a little. they're very distracting right now. try adding a drop-shadow to frame, give it some depth. but just on the right and the bottom to make it look like the whole frame is floating, right?

there's nothing wrong with a grey background if everything else is working...
