[discuss] if you have nothing nice to say...

I can't say much because in the past I have been outspoken on the forums, however I don't feel like I bash people for there works (unless its NFR) or posts. But, I have noticed that some people are just downright assholes when it comes to the sharing of knowledge or works. If someone takes the time to share information or create a work and share it with the community, why chastize (sp?) them for it? I can understand constructive critiscim (sp?, again) but you don't have to go out of your way to make someone feel stupid or be an ass. I'm just saying, can't we be a little more polite and curtious towards those who share info / works?

What are your thoughts?

BTW, I am not trying to start an argument, just a discussion. In hopes of possibly making this a better community.

I listen to every comment people make regarding my work - but I can easily distinguish the people who are being constructive and honest to those people who just like to diss other peoples work. Its something that you can never stop happening - so why worry about it?

Well, there's always going to be those types of people that like to ruin things for other people or act downright immature. For myself, I just skip over posts like that. If everybody acted as if that post was never posted, whoever made that offensive post wouldn't get what he/she wanted - attention. Furthermore it becomes clear who the outsiders and ones lacking social skills on these forums are. I see all the time, people losing their cool and sinking down to the level of those people they hate.

Criticism should never be frowned upon. If there are things wrong with a work, it never hurts to post suggestions to improve. If I cut out a MacBook Pro and pasted it on top of a gradient, I might think that it's the most wonderful work in the world, only to have Pyn scream "EEWw!1 WTFWanD3d!!!" To be frank, posts that aren't written in complete sentences should be deleted (mine included), but the idea that my edges are jaggy cannot be denied.

We need to all lighten up and not go trigger-happy whenever someone says something sucks as long as he says why.

Seriously, Immaturity and lack of manners are rampant on the internet. People say things they would never say in person because they can get away with it. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast. That said, it would be nice if people did think twice before hitting the submit button.
