[request] Thunderbird Interface Mod-Ext

I looked at the dev sites of mozilla and noticed that mozilla apps use XUL for the interface.

I don't know the flexibility of XUL, but wouldn't it be possible to create

1. an extension, that places the two buttons that appears in the main window when you hit the the main mail item into the left side bar: they let you change your account properties and create a new account:

that would bring my thunderbird to apple's mail a bit more

2. an extension, that replaces the blue rect, when you select an item in the sidebar, with an bitmap: i'd like to have a plastic look like in itunes when you select an item in the source list at the left.

Is anyone able to do that, cuz those two things were great
