Does attempting to hide it work? It's not as good as what you're asking for, but it's worth a shot...
Right click taskbar-->Properties-->Taskbar tab-->Customize-->Change to "Hide when Inactive" or "Always Hide" for the battery.

thanks nightcrawler, but thats not really an option for me, as i said before, that i'm using windows 2000. plus which, just don't want it to load all together, to help free up resources.
