just to get anal on you, tarballs arent compressed, they just turn one group of files into one file that keeps directory structure.

Gzip is a compression format, but it doesnt have to be tar.gz, thats just normal, as people want to compress more than one file. I could do picture.jpg.gz if I wanted to.

I chose bunzip. It seems to be the best for me, and most good win compression programs can read them.
