Infected Banner under 3rd Party Applications?

It is probably a gag, but do not open the thread, "[req] Picasa 1.6". A reply posted by "Zacharia.cd" has a banner that (correctly) shows your IP, your domain, your OS, and your Browser version with a note that reads that you've downloaded trojan ver. XXXX (I don't recall the number - I'm at work and reading this on a MAC now since I wanted to confirm).

On a MAC, it reads "You are xx.xx.xxx.xxx! Your ISP is XXXXX.XXX! You are running on a Mac and using Safari! Welcome to ur new hacked os". The IP and Domain were correct.

I have Norton at home and it detected nothing and I doubt its legitimate but I wanted the Board Moderators to have a look and either remove it or confirm it as a hoax.

Well I'm no "new comer" but I'm wary of anything that reports back my IP and domain and then tells me I've been hacked. If you reload several times you'll get a variety of comments "ur pwned", "you're hacked", "linux rox biatch", etc., etc, but the 2 or 3 virus warnings seem to be the most common.

people who care about their pcs get paranoid....people who dont wwant to go through the hassle of rebuilding their setup from scratch due to a hack or virus....also if your using virus software you wouldn't want to find out thats its useless!....im not too bothered but the first time i saw it i did a scan just to be sure

Such banners use PHP--anyone knowledgeable in PHP can write a script to post the same thing to a webpage you would visit. Don't worry too much about it ...
