Follow the resolution instructions. Uninstall the Flyakite Pack (for the moment) if you're using it.

I uninstalled Window Blinds..would styler affect it, cause I did thos exact things and no luck :(

#345546

Hmm, I don't think Styler has boot-screen patching capability. You don't have a unique startup window, do you?

And you say you followed the other directions provided in that link?

Boot screen yes, I have this one that came with style xp the bootleg screen..not actul bootleg windows, but how would i get rid of the bootscreen?

edit since then i have unisntalled style xp, but the bootscreen still shows up

Aha, that popular Pirated version one? I remember that one...;)

Now, go back and reinstall StyleXP. Select Boot Screens in the left hand bar of the program, and then choose "Reset Kernel File." This will go back to your original settings. In fact, I would revert back to defaults on everything offered in StyleXP--for MsStyles patching too ("Reset to XP Default"). At that point, restart Windows (you should have a normal boot screen now), and then try installing SP2.

IF AND ONLY IF THE PREVIOUS DIDN"T WORK--in fact, I would post back if it doesn't and wait before doing anything.

Go to C:WindowsSystem32 and tell me if there's an ntoskrnl.exe.bak, or something that indicates a backup file. If there is, restart in Safe Mode (you know how to do that, right?) and rename the original ntoskrnl.exe to something like ntoskrnl--pirate.exe.bak, AND RENAME NTOSKRNL.BAK to ntoskrnl.exe.

Restart (back in Normal mode now), and if you have a normal boot screen, you're good!

Reinstalled StyleXP, and did what you said, but when I restarted windows, I still had the option to go to the regualar bootscreen or the bootleg screen..should I uninstall style xp now?

#345558

just boot up in safe mode and install from there.

Nevermind, SP2 is currently installing thanks to NC! Thanks much!
