Apple is in talks to buy Napster, Mac rumours site LoopRumors has claimed, citing "reliable sources".Well, not Napster per se but Roxio, the CD burning software specialist, which itself acquired Napster's assets for $5 million after the peer-to-peer pioneer declared itself bankrupt last summer.
Roxio also owns PressPlay, the online music service launched by major music labels Sony and Universal in 2001.

I like to see it happen but Roxio is one of the worst companies for producing Windows compatible software. Their Mac line is great but the stability and bugs of their Windows software is very bad. Roxio tech support is terrible. Roxio Window's problems made Nero an instant success.

Agreed. When I installed Easy CD Creator it took me a full reinstall of Windows XP just to get CD writing working again.
But I'd love to see Apple port them to Windows, but I just can't see it happening. The reasons to switch would be dealt a major blow. The Register is a great site, but they do tend to offer a lot of commentary - as opposed to straight facts - in their articles. It's often worth taking what they say with a pinch of salt.
Watch me be proved wrong when a Roxio created version of iTunes comes out next year. <_<
