Aqua-Soft ForumsOk, I have come up with 4 designs for the logo of my site Gemonic.com (Still a work in progress). Which one do you think looks the best? Suggestions?

i think number 4 is the best of them...but number 1 could be really good if you centered the logo in the blue area.

Fixed number 1 so the logo was centered 
wow, I love the blue globe thingy. I like the grass, but don't like it mixed with a single color background (1 & 2), at least not in their current form. Maybe on 1, making the blue section square.
I think 4 is pretty tight. Maybe you could work the grass into 4 somehow. Really good stuff!
No. 4 is the strongest - but PLEASE change that font - it ruins the whole stylish look you have.. if you insist on keeping it then please adjust the kerning (spacing between the letters) so that they are even.. as it currently gets more and more spaced towards the end. Unless of course that is deliberate - but it looks bad.
Also perhaps spherise the world map a little so that the top of the disk doesn't look so bare.

The logo is the same... It's the banner that is different. Logo is ok... the banner that I like best is #4 but put the field behind it.

I wouldn't call that a logo, though, more of a banner.
A logo would be JUST the icon you have, and MAYBE the textmark.
I agree with a previous post, change that ugly font, isn't that Lucida Console ?
Try something like Lucida Grande, Lucida Mac, Aquabase, or the Swis721 fonts look good too. UniversalCondensed looks nice also. I don't know there are tons of fonts outthere, anything but this one

Please remember that Lucida Grande is a display font, not meant for print jobs. Lucida Mac and Aquabase are merely mods of L.G. created to emulate OS X font smoothing technique on Windows XP. They all look bad in print.
If you want something that looks similar to Lucida Grande and is meant to print, you need Myriad.

And Myriad is a *very* nice font.

HAHAHAH, I do the exact same thing.....although i'm starting to play more and more with helvetica neue.
So you share my pain Photo Think of easy curves of Helvetica or Gill Sans Light....mmm or good ol' Garamond or Caslon...I have a crush for serif fonts lately
Futura Light is a nice font - but I agree with you Pe8er, serif fonts are where its at... Palatino, Baskerville and bembo are a few of my favs right now
Hey I never heard of Bembo before. Just checked it at fonts.com and it looks neat! Very regular, clean and symmetric design. Great stuff for huge headlines IMO.
Yeah I love using it a bit of creative typography for those very reasons - big impact yet still very delicate.
