I need inspirement!

Yes, yes i have 8 days of winter vac. but i need some photoshop inspirement or something.

And i still need to know how i can make a template or skin for my blog (i have an i dea already.)

And i would like photoshop inspirement and some tutorials some of you major photoshop(cs) guys could teach me. i have been on a million sites for tutorials and they are all like for baby beginners or someone who is mentaly retarded, or they are to specific to under stand(or mayby too UNspecific.)

If you want some "professional", "fantacy" or "advance", ... effects you have to do it by urself and first you have to master all "baby" stuffs. Good luck!

I would suggest that you use FIreworks instead of Photoshop as it gives you more of the specific tools you would need to create a Blog or webpage.

Photoshop has its own tutorials that would give you enough of a basis to use it properly. Although you may want to try something like PaintShop Pro which still has many many features but is easier to use (so I'm told).

is paintshop pro different than corel painter 9?

the reason i have these programs is 'cuz my mom is a pro photographer.

and i have mastered all the "baby" stuff i ques. i would like to know what exactly whould be the basics. i have been using ps cs for all summer.

BTW: i do have painter 9, would you recomend that for anything?

I think you're looking for somebody to teach you how to be creative. No tutorial can do this. Inspiration and motivation is what you need. If you have an idea for a theme, logo, or a certain "look" you want to create for an interface or whatever, you can realize it using any one of the programs you mentioned-- as long as you have an idea or vision.

Look for inspiration in the things around you-- things that look cool, interfaces, buttons, shiny things, etc. e.g. what is it about aqua that you like? Maybe you like how things look reflective. Then experiment with the things you like and design something around it. Be cautioned though that inspiration IS different from RIP. You can't copy something and say it was inspired.

In short, I think you have to stop looking for a recipe for creativity and actually... wait, I know it's hard... THINK of something I know I've had the software at my finger tips, a few good ideas and poor execution, ... and also laziness-- which is why I've never released anything (I'm also a perfectionist).

My 2 cents. Good luck with getting your 'idea'. If you know what you want to make or what effect you want to do, and you're determined enough, then nothing can stand in your way.

I couldn't comment on the similarities between any of the programs you mentioned because I only use PS.

The way that I create most of my logos is like this:

1. get a piece of paper and pen and sit in a comfy chair (no where near a computer) and write down a list of words that I associate with the idea/company I am designing for.

2. Once I have a list I start sketching ideas based on those words, also trying combinations of words to create different ideas.

3. Choose 2/3 designs that I feel are strongest and try 3-4 variations of each. I will then pick the 3 strongest ideas and move over the PC.

4. I now open up PS and covert those ideas into a digital form, sometimes scanning my ideas as reference.

5. I would then present the 3 designs to the client - with colour and font variations.
