Replacing Dll Question

I have noticed that xp isn't quite stable and I am wondering if, after updating to all the latest patches available for xp (inclucing servicepacks) replacing the standard windows dlls with Icemans or SnowE dlls I am going to lose stability/compatibility/functionality.

I feel safe using 3rd party utilities such as iconpackager/y'z toolbar and such, but it is also bogging down my system doing so.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If you replace the correct DLL's for your windows xp, in this case sp1 or non-sp1, I think there should not be a problem. Atleast in my case there is not, I just use the hacked uxtheme.dll and I have no problems of stability.

If you are replacing further files, maybe it does makes some changes on the system perfomarmance, because now it has to load bigger imager and different files than the original windows xp, maybe it kinda slows down. However im not sure about the effects of replacing a lot of windows dll's files, I try to keep the replacement to a minimum.
