Colored Monroe

I'm not much on coloring black and white photos, but I saw the thread on coloring them, so I was inspired. I did this in Photoshop CS and it took a loong time. I hope you like it:

wow if you just saw it for like 3 secs and didn't look at the face I'd think it was real - I looked at the B&W face and even that looked kind of messed up cause of the shadows but that looks really good - can you include where you saw the tutorial?

I didn't use a tutorial... sorry

But I used "Overlay" layers with 49% opacity

(But yeah, I need to fix the face and hair)

woops sorry misread that =) yea if you can fix that I bet it'd fool a few people

Impressive--you did quite well on the skin tones. My only problem is with the facial area--specifically, her eyes. They seem to be missing something and it brings the entire picture down. They just look kind of hooded--I'm not sure how the color could affect that, but there you go.

Do you see it, or is it just me?

Nice job, though!

have you heard of recolored? http://www.recolored.com/

It could do that job in 10 minutes

haha I hope he didn't spend as long as he made it out to seem on monroe after seeing this but either way he did a badass job on her without recolored

Yeah, and I've used recolored, but I don't like it.

I like having more control over what I'm doing, other then just having some app do it for me, or else it's not your work. It's the app's.

I see it too... and I think I've fixed it.

And besides, I hate how long it takes to render the image colored, and then you have to fix any minor mistakes there are.

Bottom line:

Photoshop is just plain better.
