[help] I can't restore my iPod

I purchased an iPod shuffle a few weeks ago, and have been using it quite happily. It's great..well...it was...a few days ago, I noticed that when I would press play, the green and orange lights would blink alternately but nothing else would happen.

So, being the semi-intelligent Windows XP user I am, I ran up the updater and tried restoring it. No dice, it would just claim to not be able to mount the iPod or give some other stupid excuse (or just hang altogether).

I have tried downloading the most recent version of the updater, and running it on other computers, but it still doesn't work.

I went through all the hoops at Apple Chat and filled out a service request, but before I send it off, do you all have any ideas/suggestions? Alternatively, you are more than welcome to yell at me and call me rude names ;-)

jw, maybe the blinking is a code, look at the manual and see if the green and orange blinking means somthing.

yeah ive had this a few times with the updater...try going into services and doing a selective starup...disable all services apart from microsoft services and ipodhelper.exe or wotever its called...then try running the updater...worked for me
