I would like to have something similar to the default yahoo mail checker shipped with Konfab 3. I just don't like having it on my desktop, a docklet sitting nicely on my RKlauncher will be perfect

As for the APIs, i'm not sure where you can get it. According to Yahoo! widget home page, you can get it at http://developer.yahoo.net/ and http://widgets.yahoo.com/workshop

i tried setting up POP access for my yahoo mail account by following the steps provided by Yahoo but no luck, even when using Outlook express anyone knows how to do it?
Im really not sure but there is a dashboard widgets for checking yahoo and I know it does not use a built in function like K does, you might look at that.

i know i could use pop mail checker, but i can't seem to get it working. I mean it always says i have no new message while I do have some sitting in my inbox

Yahoo's POP access isn't free to it's US users, which I believe is yahoo.com users. If you use a different Yahoo address, such as ca.yahoo.com (Canada), then POP access is free. Here are the instructions for setting up Yahoo's POP for an email client. If all fails, like I said before, you can download and install a program like FreePOP. FreePOP allows you to check web based email accounts, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, etc without paying for their POP access. So instead of using pop.mail.yahoo.com, you would use localhost or 127.0.0.1, for the POP address. For the SMTP address, you could just use your ISP one to send out emails. Hope this helps..some. 
As far as why it says you have no new mail when you do, I couldn't tell you. I've never been a fan of Yahoo's mail.
damn it, i'm not a US user but I've got a yahoo.com email address :( I think that's why it didn't work for me. I'll give that FreePOP program a go. Thanks a lot ziptrx
