Description

Not as nice as Judges SysStats version ( http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=30699), but this one support WinAmp [see notes] .

Basically, just shows the albumart of the current song you are listening to in either WinAmp or iTunes with a nice reflection.

Right click for options on auto-hiding and CD-case.

What's new

+ WinAmp Support! [see notes]

+ CD Case (can be turned off)

+ AutoHiding when there's no player loaded (can be turned off)

+ Now doesn't make iTunes show the annoying "A scripting interface is still using iTunes blah blah" - message anymore.

+ right click for options.

+ Albumart now gets loaded properly from folder.jpg or, when using iTunes and if possible, from the embedded file inside the MP3.

+ fixed "Alternate Song Bug".

WinAmp Notes

WinAmp, with http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=143299 genactivewinamp installed. Don't forget to reload winamp after installing the plugin.

andreasv this is sooo awesome (um i dont mean to bother you about this but as a bonus could you make it possible to display text relating to the track beside the artwork as well (that can be repositioned and restyled))....this is a great piece of work....i skinned the desklet within two minutes of downloading and it looks great!

I think Foobar2000 should work with it as long as you have the Winamp API emulator plugin. I am yet to test this, however.

I can't get the album art work desklet to work just yet. I have genactivewinamp plugin installed but I'm wondering if I'm supposed to run a vbs script that it comes with, if so which one? I opened up my config window for genactivewinamp and have nothing currently running.

The effect is a simple bitmap effect actually, not a Direct3D one. There is no way the reflection is not shown if the albumart is shown.

Actually, I think you'd still need the extra winamp plugin, and that obviously isnt going to work. I still tried it, but as expected, no worky

Ave: did you know that samurize actually has a plugin for foobar that enables it to get all the info needed? it's called foo_info_samurize.dll, and is installed with samurize. Maybe avedesk could use that plugin to get info? I can send the .dll to you if you want, but I think there's not a lot of documentation about it.

foo_remote.dll could be an option, but dammit, I cannot find it anymore :/

I could write my own foobar plugin, but I think it's much better to use a well-known, accepted plugin. Personally, I wouldn't like having a zillion plugins in every media app from some apps I installed.

The thing is that there isnt a decent foobar plugin that does what avedesk needs. If you google for "foobar api", you'll see that many many many many people have asked for a decent API/plugin, yet noone seems to have written one. The demand for an API/pluing dates back from years ago now, but noone that is capable of writing a good plugin has done so

Well, foobar 0.9 isnt there yet, and I can promise you, foobar releases are VERY slow.
