[Help] Thunderbird 1.0.7... where?

I am having trouble with thunderbird. I recently reformated and wanted to put thunderbird back on my computer. In the past I have used it and love it, alot more than outlook for sure. The setup of my accounts should have been easy but... I can't find where you put the port you want to connect to. My gmail account uses a 995 (or some other one, forgot) port for the pop address so if I can't change the standard port I can't get my gmail mail. The port setting was next to the pop address before but now I can't find the bloody setting. I feel very very very dumb, so be gentle.:) I did search through tons of forums and webpages and nothing. Help if you can, I'm sure it is just hidden someplace I haven't looked. Thanks

look here

see the difference. maybe there is a problem with your profile (use save mode) or the installation was incorrect. sorry i can't help more

Ya I know that it should be there, thats why i am bugging. This was a clean install so I am not really sure how it could get messed up. I have unistalled, deleted my application data folder and it is still the same, so I thought they moved it, but if anyone can tell me anything else that might help that would be super. Thanks

Edit: I just reinstalled after deleting every last shred of thunderbird and still exactly the same. poopy

is that LUCIDA Grande font you are using?.... that has a problem if you are using it as system font, it streches out your textfields and that could be the reason your port field is repositioned outside the visible area of dialouge box !!!!

Try this and see if it helps

  • Open "Regedit.exe" (type Regedit in Run dialouge box and enter)
  • Go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFontSubstitutes
  • check the value of key called MS Shell Dlg in that location, if it says Lucida Grande try changing it to "Tahoma" or "Microsoft Sans Serif"
  • You might have to reboot for changes to take place.

Hope that helps !!
