Addicted to my Tiger Vs

This is my poor story of my addiction to tiger visual style. Since one year now I've got my Tiger vs moddy by me on my pc and I can't change it. I've tried everything now. Niqu, Milk, Luna again, and so on.

But everytime I changed the theme I felt sick about my desktop. And also Font smoothing, it makes me sick to my stomache. I feel dizzy when the font ist blurred in Firefox.

Only one theme was an alternertive for tiger to me. It was the windows Royal Inspirat theme. It was perfect, no font smoothing in browser windows, great looking and so on.

But it makes me sick when I'm looking at the screenshots thread and see those great desktops with perfect matching themes and walls. But even when I try to copy the desktop of somebody it makes me sick again.

Why am I so addicted to Tiger ?

I don't want to be mean but that visual style kind of sucks. How can you guys like it so much?

1. The titlebar corners are awful

2. the fonts are standard windows for christs sake, + no cleartype

3. It's shadowed but not borderless.

4. The buttons are kolstyle, not mac style.

It's kind of pretty amateur compared to other themes.

Try TD4 to see what I mean.

flurry, i agree with your point 2 only. it's hard for me to understand why anyone would want cleartype off, it just looks like sh!t with it off. other points, well, maybe he likes them that way? he did say he's addicted to "his" tiger vs.

artish, the overall look of your desktop, however, doesn't have a uniform feel to it though. your icons are seemingly unfit for the vs and the toolbar just looks, well, xp.

I was talking about KoL's VS, not this one, but the point is that everyone has tha right to their own opinion and shouldn't be attacked for it.

I hate when people think their taste is the only relevant one.

- Avedesk

- Minium icon set

- Konfabulator

- Objectbar

- Window Blind (it might get rid of the terrible coners-i dont know ) :slant:

i hear ya, i have been using osx themes for probalby 2 years now, went from panther to tiger. And i cant get myself to use the other themes, even though they look really cool. defult aqua is always best.

Um, I didn't want a topic to rate that Vs, and it's not even mine. I just moded Kols Tiger visual for my taste (I only changed the Task bar task buttons and the menu.)

Well I got used to the corners. I know there is no font smoothening, I've mentioned in my post i get sick from it.

Only the messenger skin is shadowed because that belongs to the skin. I don't use shadow because it slows my system to much.

@nomis_nehc: Same as Flurry, i realy feel sick in my stomache when i look at blurred letters in a long text.

@Millennium: Thanks for the advices. Avedesk, Konfabulater and Objectbar are useless in my opinion and they just eat my 256 mb RAM (yeah, yeah. I know. That's not much, but I'll get an update on christmas ).

With this topic i just wanted to find other aqua-junks or someone that could help me out with a alternative.

I mean aqua is realy cool and so on. But for me it's like catchy tune. It's allways there and you can't get rid of it.

A theme may appear "sickening" at first, but if you stick with it, you might find you'll enjoy it.

That's why I'm on a Luna-style theme . It actually looks pretty good, even though I never thought I would get close to Luna again.

i am not sure why cleartype looks blurred to you? what type of monitor do you have?

I'm just using royale now on my pc... just theres too much bugs and annoyances in most of the current mac themes, just isnt very efficient for everyday use, and plus when you try to replicate all the eye candy which a mac has, even the fastest pc at times starts laggin. , Windows (XP and lower atleast) just arent suitable for iCandy - its just performace over candy and visa versa, and as I said quite a few times already I'm selling my PC, as soon as the Mactels are gonna come out, and I can upgrade my Powerbook. However I'll probably buy, or build a new pc once Vista's release is going to be getting closer, just before Vista, lots of 'Vista/Longhorn-Ready" hardware is gonna be released, and prices on all should go down a little... I just dont really like being centered on some one thing, even if it is nice - in this case Apple - I prefer to take a bite out of all the pies - like right now I have a PC (typing on it now), a Powerbook, which I mostly use for my design work, and theres a Linux box standing in my closet, haven't used it in a few month though...

If you can see it, I'm currently using Tiger right now (see: December Desktop thread) but i only stick with it because i'm still waiting for kavin to release his UniMilk for WindowBlinds. But i have the utmost respect for all themes and their authors. It's just i'm biased when it comes to Milk.
