(Help) iPod and Xp Sp2

Hi, I am having trouble with my iPod drivers using Windows Xp. What it is, is that every time i try to install the drivers for my iPod using the provided cd, when the installation tells me to connect my iPod i connect it, but then Windows seems to install its own drivers, therefore rendering iPod Updater and iPod service useless, which also stops me being able to use anapod explorer(it never seems to find my iPod).

Windows also does this when trying to install my belkin bluetooth adapter, does anybody know how to disable xp from installing drivers as soon as you connect your hardware(am using Xp Service Pack 2).

If you install the drivers before you plug the device in, Windows should use the custom drivers instead of its own.

If you go into Rightclick My Computer-> Manage-> Device Manager

Find the piece of hardware Rightclick-> Update Driver

Do not connnect to Windows Update-> Next

Install from a list or specific location-> Next

Do not searh I will choose the driver to install-> Next

Make sure that 'Show Compatible Hardware' is selected

If your driver shows up on the list then click on it and press Next

If your driver is not on the list press 'Have Disk' and browse to the location of your driver and select it to install.

I had to do this in order to use the WIDCOMM stack for my bluetooth dongle instead of the default SP2 drivers.

I'm not sure if this will work for the iPod
